Always reliant on trade with Egypt and the Mediterranean world, Meroë’s history is closely linked to Persian, Ptolemaic and Roman rule. Dr Robert Morkot will survey that historical relationship and how Meroë’s contacts led to a complex culture mixing indigenous Kushite with Egyptian, Hellenistic and Roman elements.
